Notorious Boko Haram terrorist, Abacha, surrenders to troops

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has reported that a notorious Boko Haram terrorist, Bochu Abacha, has surrendered to troops in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State. This was confirmed by Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osaba, the Chief Military Information Officer of the MNJTF, in a statement issued in Maiduguri on Saturday.

Abacha, identified as a significant player in various terrorist operations, admitted to taking part in multiple attacks along the Mongunu-Baga route. He attributed his decision to surrender to the increased pressure from MNJTF operations and a diminishing commitment to the terrorist cause.

Upon surrendering, Abacha handed over an AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, a mobile phone, an Airtel SIM card, and N32,500 in cash. Currently, he is cooperating with authorities by providing valuable intelligence.

In a related operation, MNJTF troops, along with intelligence operatives, ambushed a group of Boko Haram terrorists transporting logistical supplies in three vehicles. The troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the death of one terrorist and forcing others to flee, abandoning their supplies. Recovered items included three vehicles filled with assorted foodstuffs, various supplies, and N2,000. (NAN)
