Police in Nasarawa arrest suspects for child, motorcycle theft
Police operatives in Nasarawa State have successfully arrested two suspects in connection with separate incidents of child abduction and motorcycle theft in Keffi. This was confirmed by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, on Sunday, speaking on behalf of the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada.
In the first case, Khadija Aliyu, a female suspect, was arrested on September 28, 2024, for allegedly kidnapping a seven-day-old baby girl. The incident occurred during a naming ceremony at a residence located behind the INEC office in Keffi.

According to DSP Nansel, the suspect, who had been pretending to be pregnant for some time, attended the ceremony as a guest. While the event was ongoing, Khadija allegedly sneaked into the house where the baby was laid to sleep. She then carried the baby, wrapped her in a veil, and left the premises unnoticed. However, her attempt to escape with the infant was foiled, leading to her arrest shortly after the theft.
In a separate operation, officers from the Angwan Lambu Division, Keffi, arrested Hussaini Mohammed, an ex-convict, on suspicion of motorcycle theft. Mohammed, who had only recently been released from a correctional facility, was found in possession of three motorcycles, all suspected to have been stolen.
“Similarly, one Hussaini Mohammed, a resident of Behind Stadium, Keffi, and an ex-convict who left the correctional facility a few months ago, was arrested by police operatives attached to Angwan Lambu Division for motorcycle theft. During the investigation, three motorcycles suspected to be stolen were recovered from the suspect as exhibits,” Nansel explained.
CP Umar Shehu Nadada urged members of the public who may have reported stolen motorcycles to visit the Angwan Lambu Division with proof of ownership to claim the recovered items.
He also reassured the public that the suspects would be prosecuted according to the law, while encouraging continued collaboration between citizens and law enforcement to combat crime in the state.
