Ronaldo scores 900th goal as Portugal defeats Croatia

Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a remarkable milestone by scoring his 900th career goal, as Portugal began their Nations League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Croatia.

The 39-year-old forward reached this record by volleying in from the edge of the six-yard box in the 34th minute, doubling Portugal’s lead from a deep cross by Nuno Mendes.

This goal marked Ronaldo’s 131st for Portugal, coming exactly 20 years after his first international goal. His emotional celebration saw him sink to his knees in a poignant moment.

Earlier, Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot had given Portugal the lead, but he later inadvertently scored his own goal, allowing Croatia to level the score before halftime.
