President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep appreciation for the Nigerian military following their successful operations against banditry in the North-West. On Thursday, troops from Operation Hadarin Daji neutralised Halilu Sububu, a notorious bandit leader who had been terrorising Zamfara, Sokoto, and surrounding regions.

In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Tinubu commended the military’s efforts. “The successful neutralisation of Halilu Sububu and other terrorists represents a significant achievement in our fight against banditry,” Tinubu said. “This operation not only shows our troops’ commitment but also their effectiveness in tackling security threats.”

The operation also led to the death of another terrorist, Sani Wala Burki, and the dismantling of a terrorist enclave in Kaduna. During this raid, 13 kidnapped students were rescued. “The rescue of these students is a testament to our security forces’ relentless dedication to protecting our citizens,” the President added.

President Tinubu had previously instructed the service chiefs to relocate to the North-West until the region’s security situation improved. “I am pleased with the outcomes of these operations,” Tinubu noted. “It reaffirms our confidence in the ability of our security agencies to restore peace and safety in affected areas.”

The President also praised the coordination between the military and intelligence agencies. “The synergy and dedication displayed by our military and intelligence personnel are commendable,” he said. “Their hard work and perseverance are critical to our efforts in ensuring lasting peace and security.”

Tinubu reassured the security agencies of his continued support. “We remain committed to supporting our troops in their vital work,” he said. “Our goal is to permanently address both immediate and latent security threats to ensure the safety of every Nigerian.”

This latest development marks a significant step forward in Nigeria’s ongoing battle against banditry and terrorism, with President Tinubu expressing hope that such successes will continue.
