Troops in Borno State thwart Boko Haram attack in fierce gun battle
Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have successfully thwarted a Boko Haram attack in Borno State, Nigeria. The operation, carried out under Sector 3 of the MNJTF, was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the Chief Military Information Officer for the task force based in N’djamena, Chad.
The troops acted on credible intelligence, executing a tactical ambush against the insurgents who were attempting to launch an attack in the region. According to the statement, the soldiers strategically positioned themselves along the terrorists’ anticipated route, engaging them as they emerged from a forested area on motorcycles.
Upon sighting the MNJTF troops, the Boko Haram fighters attempted to flee, but they were met with a heavy barrage of gunfire. This decisive engagement forced the insurgents to abandon their weapons and motorcycles, effectively disrupting their plans for violence against innocent civilians.
