Troops in Kaduna rescue 13 kidnap victims from bandits’ hideout

Troops of Sector 4, Operation Whirl Punch of the Nigerian Army, successfully rescued 13 hostages from a bandits’ hideout in Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
According to a statement by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, the rescue operation was initiated based on credible intelligence about the movement of kidnapped victims in the Chigulu village area of Kachia.
The troops launched a swift operation, engaging the bandits in a fierce gunfight. Overpowered, the bandits fled into the dense forest, abandoning the hostages.

Among the rescued victims were six men and seven women. In addition to liberating the hostages, the troops dismantled the bandits’ camp and recovered several items, including an AK-47 rifle, a locally made rifle, four AK-47 magazines, 87 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, five mini solar panels, five mobile phones, and ₦192,220 in cash.
The rescued individuals were immediately taken to a military facility for medical evaluation and debriefing before reuniting with their families.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, praised the swift and decisive actions of the troops, led by Major General Mariyenso Saraso, General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army/Commander of Operation Whirl Punch. He lauded their efforts in ensuring the safety of the hostages and commended the military for their ongoing commitment to maintaining security in the region.
