Yar’adua’s mother made me who I am –Jonathan
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Hajiya Dada Yar’Adua, describing her as a pivotal figure in his life. During a condolence visit to the Yar’Adua family in Katsina on Saturday, Jonathan stated, “This woman technically made me who I am.”
Jonathan recalled that it was Hajiya Dada’s son, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who brought him into the political limelight by choosing him as his running mate. He described the loss as profoundly personal, likening it to losing his own mother.

The former president, who was en route to Kigali, Rwanda, when he received the news, adjusted his travel plans to attend the condolence visit. He extended heartfelt condolences to the Yar’Adua family and the people of Katsina State, acknowledging Hajiya Dada’s significant impact and her long, blessed life.
“She was a mother that we lost, but Allah has blessed her. To live that long shows that Allah has accepted her. She was a good woman who raised children that contributed significantly to the development of our great nation,” Jonathan added.
