Story by Kasim Isa MUHAMMAD, Damaturu
The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has expressed deepest sympathies to the Borno State Government and the people of Maiduguri following the recent devastating flood disaster.
In a statement, the Executive Secretary of Yobe State SEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje, said the agency is standing in solidarity with its neighbours and has mobilised support to assist in response and evacuation efforts.
Among the resources being dispatched to Borno State are an electric boat and life jackets, which will aid in rescue operations and the safe transportation of people stranded by the rising floodwaters.
Dr. Goje emphasised that Yobe State SEMA is committed to continuing its support as needed and remains dedicated to collaborating with Borno State SEMA and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) during these challenging times.

It could be recalled that thousands of Maiduguri inhabitants have been displaced following the collapse of the Alau Dam in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, leading to the state’s most devastating flood disaster in 30 years.
In the wake of the disaster, the Nigerian Correctional Service has recaptured three inmates who escaped during a jailbreak, while 80% of animals at the Sanda Kyarimi Park zoo have perished.
Neptune Prime reports that the flood has caused widespread destruction and displacement, with many families forced to flee their homes and seek shelter elsewhere.
