Full List: NNPCL workers, pilot identified in helicopter crash
The identities of the six Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) employees who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash on Thursday have been disclosed. The flight manifest revealed the names of the workers as follows:
1. Tamunoemi Suku – A medical doctor and graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Tamunoemi was known for his gentle and principled nature. He hailed from Kalabari, Rivers State, and had minimal social media presence, primarily sharing personal milestones. He married Laura Emi-Suku in 2015, and friends expressed their grief online, mourning his untimely death.
2. Alu Lawrence – Known as “Fly Guy,” Lawrence was from Abbi, Rivers State, and resided in Lagos. He studied at the Regional Maritime Academy in Accra, Ghana. His family and friends took to social media to express their sorrow over his loss, highlighting the impact of his passing.
3. Etim Emmanuel – Further details about Etim Emmanuel are currently unavailable, as he had a limited online presence.
4. Kenneth Chikwem – Information regarding Kenneth Chikwem remains sparse, with limited social media activity noted.
5. Frank Oriamre – Originally from Edo State, Frank maintained a low profile on social media, with only a couple of posts depicting his professional life.
6. Borris Ndorbo – A graduate of Rivers State University, Borris lived in Port Harcourt and had recently begun working in the floating production, storage, and offloading sector. His last social media post was a reflective selfie in a helicopter.
The pilot, Captain Yakubu Dukas, was a highly experienced aviator with over 20 years in the field and previously served as vice president of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers. His colleagues and family have expressed deep sorrow over his passing, with many taking to social media to pay tribute.
The helicopter, operated by East Winds Aviation, was transporting contract staff to the FPSO—NUIMS ANTAN facility when it tragically crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Bonny Finima in Port Harcourt.
In response to the incident, President Bola Tinubu extended condolences to the families of the victims and ordered a thorough search and rescue operation.
So far, five of the victims have been confirmed dead, while efforts continue to recover the remains of the other three individuals.
