Tinubu is not T-Pain, he feels Nigerians’ pain – Onanuga

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga has defended President Bola Tinubu against criticisms on social media, asserting that the President genuinely feels the pain of Nigerians.

Onanuga, speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, emphasized that Tinubu is not the “T-Pain” some have dubbed him online, and noted that the President’s focus is on repairing the economy rather than inflicting further hardship on citizens.

He acknowledged the difficulties facing Nigerians but clarified that Tinubu does not engage with social media, which is why he is unaware of the “T-Pain” nickname. “It’s a non-issue,” Onanuga stated, dismissing the term as a product of mischief.

Onanuga reiterated that the President is committed to alleviating citizens’ struggles and working towards prosperity, despite ongoing economic challenges. He pointed out that, amid soaring inflation, Nigeria is still experiencing economic growth and increased revenue.

The country is currently grappling with unprecedented food inflation and soaring energy prices, which have quadrupled in the past year.

Many citizens attribute these rising costs to the removal of petrol subsidies and the unification of foreign exchange rates.

In response to their grievances, citizens have organized two major protests against the Tinubu administration, demanding a reversal of its policies.

However, the current administration maintains that these reforms are essential and will not be undone.
