9News Nigeria set to launch Northeast bureau in Maiduguri
All is set for the launch of 9News Nigeria’s Northeast Bureau in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, marking the official start of the media organization’s operations in the region.
The event is expected to attract media stakeholders from Maiduguri and other parts of the Northeast, where 9News will outline its objectives, mission, and vision. The event will also introduce Abubakar Haruna Muhammad as the Bureau Chief for the regional office.
The program will include a panel discussion with media practitioners on the topic “Reporting Conflict and Disaster,” chosen to address the ongoing challenges facing the region. According to the Bureau Chief, the topic aligns with the realities in Borno and the Northeast, which have faced devastating floods and conflicts over the years.

Yobe State, heavily impacted by recurrent floods, and Borno State, which recently experienced its worst flood disaster in history, have been significantly affected. Additionally, the region has endured ongoing conflicts, including the Boko Haram insurgency, which has severely impacted communities and presented unique challenges for media coverage.
“The Northeast has seen decades of conflict and natural disasters that have tested the resilience of local communities and the media alike,” Mr. Muhammad said. “The panel discussion will help journalists and media organizations share best practices for managing information during such crises.”
