Akpabio reprimands Senator for calling Bianca Ojukwu “beautiful”
During a ministerial screening on Wednesday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio playfully admonished Senator Osita Ngwu for commenting on the beauty of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, a nominee for Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
As Bianca and other nominees presented their credentials to the Senate, Ngwu began his remarks by complimenting her appearance, calling her “the beautiful nominee.”
Akpabio quickly chimed in with humor, suggesting, “Stick to the resume. Forget about calling her beautiful; that’s not in her CV.” This light-hearted exchange drew laughter from the Senate floor.
Ngwu then went on to praise Bianca’s impressive background and qualifications. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, also expressed confidence in her capabilities, commending President Tinubu for nominating a prominent figure from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which he hailed as a step toward unity and national integration.
Bianca, a seasoned diplomat, lawyer, and former ambassador, was invited to “take a bow” following the accolades. With an extensive diplomatic career, she has served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana and Spain, as well as the country’s representative to the UN World Tourism Organization. Notably, she is also the widow of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the former Biafra leader.
