Bandits attack Leaves 19 dead, multiple abductions reported

A group of unidentified gunmen, believed to be bandits, has wreaked havoc across multiple communities in Katsina State.

According to reports, the attack resulted in the deaths of at least 19 individuals, while many others were injured and abducted.

One of the attacks occurred in Ammarawa village, where bandits invaded in the early hours of Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

Additionally, another group targeted Dan Gani village, resulting in one fatality and the abduction of seven individuals.

On the same day, a woman named Saude was kidnapped in Tudu village around 9 a.m.

Earlier, on Monday, an attack on Kukasheka village in Kankara LGA left four people dead and several others injured.

Residents have begun fleeing their homes, while others without options are pleading for government assistance.

One local shared that the ongoing bandit attacks have made it impossible to plant or harvest crops. He recounted a recent incident where his father was attacked on the family farm just two days prior, following the death of his brother at the hands of the same group. His father, who suffered a severe head injury, passed away nine days later in the hospital.

As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from the police. Further updates are expected soon.
