Bandits in Kebbi kill 1, kidnap district head, others
On Saturday, armed bandits launched an attack on Kanya village in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. During the assault, the bandits killed one individual, left three others injured, and kidnapped eight people, including the district head, Isah Daya.
The state police spokesperson, Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed these details, identifying the deceased as Sherrif Alhaji Almu.
Abubakar explained that the Kebbi State Police Command, with the support of a combined security team, is actively pursuing the kidnappers in an attempt to rescue the abducted individuals. He added that the Kebbi State Government has provided essential resources and logistics to support anti-banditry operations in the region, particularly in the southern areas of Kebbi and the Zuru Emirate, which have been heavily affected by recent banditry activities.

This recent incident follows another violent episode in Kebbi State where bandits killed the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman for the Suru Local Government Area just days earlier. The rise in attacks has highlighted the ongoing security challenges in the region, as authorities work to address the threat posed by banditry.
Kebbi residents have expressed growing concerns over safety in their communities. Many are calling for increased security measures and a stronger government response to protect lives and property in the state.

assured residents that efforts are underway to curb these criminal activities and restore peace.
