FG launches distribution of 21,924 bags of rice in Katsina

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has launched the distribution of 21,924 bags of rice as part of a Federal Government initiative aimed at enhancing food security.

The launch took place at the Katsina People’s Square on Sunday, where the governor emphasised the program’s objective to ease the economic difficulties currently impacting residents.

The distribution plans to assist various sectors of the community, primarily focusing on vulnerable women and youth groups. A total of 6,652 polling units across various wards and local government areas will benefit from this initiative.

Governor Radda highlighted that this marks the second distribution of palliatives to Katsina State by the Federal Government, following the recent provision of fertilizer for farmers to support both wet and dry season agriculture.

Additionally, he noted a remarkable improvement in the security situation in the state during this year’s farming season, reporting that 95 percent of farmlands have been successfully cultivated, a notable increase compared to the previous year.

“The State Government has also awarded N30 billion contracts to boost the agricultural sector of the State. This is what we have been doing to make life easier for the masses,” he stated.

On his part, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Atiku Bagudu maintained that the palliative measure aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

He therefore commended the governor for his efforts in supporting vulnerable populations during these challenging times.

The distribution committees at local and ward levels comprise members of the State House of Assembly, security agencies, representatives from religious groups, women and youth groups among others to ensure fair and equitable distribution of the palliatives.
