Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has expressed profound gratitude to Yobe indigenes residing in Kaduna for their heartfelt support and generous donations to victims of the recent Mafa village terror attack and flood disasters across the state.

The governor’s message was delivered through his deputy, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, during a sympathy visit by Yobe citizens living in Kaduna to the Yobe State Government House in Damaturu.

The visit follows the tragic events in Mafa village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area, where a terrorist attack left several families in mourning, as well as widespread floods that have displaced many across the state.

The delegation from Kaduna, led by Alhaji Suleh Dauda, presented donations including clothing and other essentials to support the victims and their families.

While receiving the donations, Hon. Gubana, representing Governor Buni, expressed the state government’s sincere appreciation for the gesture. “On behalf of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, I thank you all for this timely act of compassion. Your donation will go a long way in bringing relief to our people who are going through difficult times. We assure you that these items will be distributed judiciously among the victims,” he said.

The Deputy Governor also highlighted the sense of unity and responsibility demonstrated by Yobe indigenes in Kaduna, calling it a sign of patriotism and love for their homeland. “What you have done today shows that Yobe people, no matter where they are, have the heart of their state at all times. It is not about being far or near; it is about solidarity and care for one another,” Gubana added.

In a statement signed by Hussaini Mai Suleh, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, it was revealed that this visit was a follow-up to a recent meeting held between Yobe State officials and its diaspora in Kaduna. The meeting was aimed at fostering stronger ties between the government and Yobe citizens living outside the state.

Governor Buni, through his deputy, assured the delegation that this initiative would be extended to other cities where Yobe citizens reside, including Abuja and Kano. “The Governor has graciously agreed to extend this engagement to Yobe indigenes in Abuja and Kano to further build a network that will contribute to the betterment of the state. We see every Yobe indigene, no matter where they live, as a vital part of our development efforts,” Gubana noted.

Alhaji Suleh Dauda, Coordinator of Yobe citizens residing in Kaduna and a member of the board of trustees of the Yobe Education Trust Fund (YETFUND), led the delegation to the Government House. In his remarks, he conveyed the group’s condolences to the state government and the affected communities, explaining that the donation was their way of giving back to their home state.

“We are deeply pained by the losses and suffering caused by the terror attacks and the floods. As Yobe sons and daughters, we felt it was our duty to contribute something, no matter how little, to help our brothers and sisters in need,” Dauda said. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration, stating that Yobe indigenes in Kaduna are committed to supporting the state’s development in any way possible.

The delegation presented a variety of donated items, including shirts, trousers, kaftans, jallabiyas, plastic prayer mats, children’s clothing, ladies’ wear, hijabs, veils, and other essential items such as caps, suits, and jackets.

The Emir of Jajere, Alhaji Hamza Buba Ibn Isa Mashio, who was present at the event, offered prayers for the continued unity of Yobe people and for peace to reign across the troubled areas. “We appreciate this generous act from our brothers and sisters in Kaduna. May Allah reward your efforts and unite us all in peace and progress. We pray for the souls of those we have lost and ask Allah to bring an end to these calamities,” the Emir said.

The event also saw the participation of critical stakeholders from Tarmuwa Local Government Area, who expressed gratitude for the support from the Yobe diaspora in Kaduna. They called on other Yobe indigenes across the country and beyond to continue contributing to the development of the state and the welfare of its people.

Governor Buni’s administration has consistently emphasized the importance of engaging Yobe indigenes in the diaspora to collaborate in rebuilding and developing the state, particularly in the wake of recent challenges.

This gesture from Yobe citizens in Kaduna is seen as a step toward strengthening that bond and ensuring that the state remains resilient in the face of adversity.
