The presiding judge, Justice Kelvin Mbanongun, ordered Gyenger’s remand after the prosecution, represented by Insp Godwin Ato, detailed the case.
Ato informed the court that the complaint was lodged with the anti-cybercrimes and narcotics unit in Makurdi by the ADC to the governor, ASP Ver Ingyatu, on October 16, 2024.
Insp Ato explained that Gyenger had made the statement on his Facebook account, under the name Terna Sunday Tyo, which allegedly violates both Section 24 of the Cybercrimes Act of 2015 and Section 393 of the Benue Penal Code of 2004.
The court has adjourned the case until December 17 for further consideration.
