Mother pleads for assistance in locating missing 17-year-old
Mrs. Rukayat Akinbode is appealing to the public for assistance in finding her 17-year-old daughter, Hameedah, who has been missing since October 20, 2024.
According to journalists, the teenager vanished after leaving her parents’ home at Baale Bus Stop in the Bariga area of Lagos. While unconfirmed reports suggest she may have left for an Islamic program, her worried mother stated that Hameedah had informed them she was going to visit a friend in Oshodi during the program.
The family’s concerns escalated when Hameedah did not return home that same day.
“She’s my first child. She told us on Sunday morning that she was going to Oshodi to give something to a friend. She was at our mosque that morning before she left.
“When she arrived, she said she was heading to Oshodi and told her friends she’d be back shortly. I have no information about the person she said she was going to see.
“We reported the case at the Ifako Police Station and have also visited Area F and Zone 2 headquarters,” said the mother.
Mrs. Akinbode urged anyone with information that could assist in locating her daughter to contact the nearest police station.
When reached for comment on Sunday, Zone 2 command spokesperson Ayuba Ummah stated that he was unaware of the report but promised to investigate the matter. “I’m not familiar with the report, but I will find out,” Ummah said on Sunday evening.
