Nasarawa State to launch Human Capital Development, gender strategies – Gov Sule

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has pledged to fully implement the state’s Human Capital Development (HCD) Strategy alongside the Gender Transformative Human Capital Development Policy Framework. This commitment was made during a ceremony at the Government House, where Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima launched the two strategic documents.

In his speech, Governor Sule highlighted the significance of the HCD strategy, which aims to provide a comprehensive roadmap for government interventions in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment. Titled “Accelerating Growth and Development 2024-2030,” the strategy seeks to usher the state into a new era of development and economic prosperity.

The governor emphasized that the plan not only focuses on human capital development and infrastructure but also aims to strengthen governance mechanisms, ensuring accountability, transparency, and efficiency in public resource utilization.

Governor Sule underscored the importance of gender equity in sustainable development, stating, “Addressing gender disparities is not only a social responsibility but an economic imperative.” He expressed confidence that empowering women would lead to significant gains in economic growth, poverty reduction, and social cohesion. The framework is designed to dismantle barriers hindering women’s participation in leadership and economic activities within the state.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to diversifying the state’s economy by optimizing its abundant natural resources and creating an enabling environment for businesses. The governor’s strategic plan is adaptable, allowing the state to respond to emerging trends and global challenges as they arise.

Vice President Shettima, speaking at the launch, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s goal of empowering Nigerians to become globally competitive in the job market. He commended Nasarawa State’s commitment to the HCD Programme, noting the urgency to address pressing issues such as high mortality rates, education disparities, and unemployment.

Shettima attributed the launch of these strategic documents to Governor Sule’s leadership and vision, describing it as a proactive approach that positions the state for success. He emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence in achieving development goals, urging residents to support the governor in fostering an environment conducive to progress.

The event also featured the distribution of cooking stoves, spaghetti, rice, sewing, and grinding machines to various indigent women’s groups in the state, further underscoring the administration’s focus on human capital development.

In summary, Governor Sule’s administration is poised to implement vital strategies aimed at enhancing human capital, addressing gender disparities, and driving economic growth in Nasarawa State, with a vision for a prosperous future.
