NDLEA arrests Canadian in Lagos for trafficking synthetic Cannabis
A Canadian national, 41-year-old Adrienne Munju, has been detained by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport for attempting to import a significant quantity of synthetic cannabis, known as “Canadian Loud”. The drugs were discovered during a search of her luggage upon arrival from Canada on Thursday, 3rd October.
According to NDLEA’s statement, Munju was found with 74 parcels of the substance, weighing 35.2 kilograms, concealed in her bags. Munju, who is visiting Nigeria for the first time, claimed she was offered CAD 10,000 to transport the drugs.

In a separate incident, NDLEA agents intercepted a large shipment of opioids worth over N9 billion at the Port Harcourt Ports, including Tramadol and codeine-based syrups. These were concealed in three containers from India, seized following a joint inspection with customs officials. Further seizures of cannabis and other drugs were made at the Tincan seaport, Lagos, as well as in the states of Taraba and Lagos.
As part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, the NDLEA also continues its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, conducting educational sessions in schools and community centres across the country.
