Nigerian Army promotes Capt. MA Matawalle to the Rank of Major

The Nigerian Army has promoted Captain MA Matawalle of the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police to the rank of Major. The promotion, which took place on 30th September 2024, was conducted at the Army Headquarters Command Officers Mess 1, Asokoro, Abuja. He was decorated by Maj. Gen. KA ISONI, Commander Army Headquarters Garrison. The promotion was based on merit, recognizing his outstanding service and dedication.
Major MA Matawalle was born on 22nd November 1988, into the family of Matawalle Kano and hails from the city of Kano. He began his early education at Sankore International School (1994-1999) and proceeded to Air Force Military School, Jos (2000-2006). He later gained admission into the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) as a member of the 61 Regular Course from 2009-2014.
Maj. Matawalle was commissioned into the Nigerian Army on 15th August 2014 and was posted to the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police. His first posting was at the 3 Division Provost Group in Jos, where he served from 2014 to 2016. During his career, he has held various positions, including Acting Police Operation Safe Haven Jos, Acting Officer Commanding at 33 Provost Company Bauchi (2016-2019), ADC to the Commander Operation Last Hold Monguno, and ADC to the Theater Commander Operation Lafiya Dole.

Following his service in the Northeast, he was posted to Guards Brigade Provost Company, Abuja (2019-2021). He is currently serving as the Military Assistant (MA) to the Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, Abuja.
The Nigerian Army recognizes Major MA Matawalle’s commitment and contributions to national security, and his elevation is seen as a well-deserved step in his military career.
