Police Inspector shot dead, expatriate injured as gunmen rain bullets
A police inspector was fatally shot, and an expatriate sustained injuries in a violent attack by gunmen on quarry workers in Ihivbe-Ogben, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The attack, which took place on Thursday evening, was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, SP Moses Yamu, during a briefing with reporters on Sunday.
The police officer, who was attached to the quarry, was part of a security team escorting workers back to their base camp when the gunmen launched an ambush and opened fire.

Sources indicate that the expatriate, who was also injured in the attack, is receiving treatment alongside another police officer who sustained injuries.
SP Yamu further revealed that the police, in collaboration with the military, are currently on the trail of the suspects behind the assault. He added that investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive and apprehend the perpetrators.
The attack has raised concerns about security in the area, especially given that quarry workers and expatriates have been targeted. The police have assured the public that efforts are being intensified to restore safety and prevent future occurrences.
