Police launch disciplinary action against officer accused of raping 16-year-old girl in police station
Sergeant Abraham Uzuobor, an officer suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl at a police station in South Ibie, Edo State, has been the subject of disciplinary action by the Nigeria Police Force.
This ruling comes after an unsettling video surfaced showing a female officer documenting the event. It showed Uzuobor putting on his pants following the alleged attack on the unconscious girl.
The police spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that the issue has been handled and that the officer has been identified in a statement made public via X.
“He is undergoing the required disciplinary procedures. The entire action is denounced. The command has been ordered to take the necessary action and publicize the results,” Olumuyiwa said.
According to sources, Uzuobor was questioning the victim, who was suspected of committing a crime, when the incident happened. According to reports, the girl was laying on a couch in his office when he was found with his pants down.
The Edo State Police Command has declared that an investigation is under progress and acknowledged the seriousness of the accusations.
The leadership has started a trial of the police officer involved in this behavior because it is completely inappropriate. The police headquarters confirmed that justice will undoubtedly be served.
