Recovery almost complete after partial grid disturbance – TCN

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that recovery efforts are nearing completion after a partial disturbance affected the national grid on Monday, October 14, 2024, at approximately 6:48 pm.

The company confirmed that while the recovery process began immediately with support from the Azura power station, challenges arose that temporarily slowed progress.

As of today at 10:24 am, TCN reported significant advancements in restoring the grid, despite encountering a minor setback.

Currently, bulk power availability has been restored to around 90% of substations nationwide, including the successful restoration of supply to the Abuja area and other major distribution centers across the country.

Notably, the Ibom Gas generating station remained unaffected by the disturbance, continuing to provide electricity to regions in the South-South, including Eket, Ekim, Uyo, and the Itu 132kV transmission substations.

TCN officials stated that an investigation into the cause of the disturbance will commence once the grid is fully restored.
