Ronaldo scores in Portugal’s Nations League win as Spain sink Denmark
Cristiano Ronaldo continued his impressive Nations League form, scoring as Portugal secured a 3-1 victory over Poland on Saturday. The 39-year-old forward has now found the net in all three of Portugal’s Nations League matches this season, bringing his international goal tally to an astounding 133.
In Warsaw, Portugal took the lead in the 26th minute with a volley from Bernardo Silva. Bruno Fernandes assisted the goal, cleverly nodding a cross from Ruben Neves into Silva’s path. Ronaldo then doubled the lead, slotting in a rebound after Rafael Leao’s shot rebounded off the post following a surging run by the AC Milan star.
Piotr Zielinski managed to pull one back for Poland, but a late own goal by Jan Bednarek ensured Portugal’s victory. The win keeps Portugal unbeaten in Group A1, where they lead with nine points, three ahead of Croatia. Croatia secured a 2-1 win over Scotland, handing them their third consecutive defeat in the group.

Spain, meanwhile, climbed to the top of Group A4 with a narrow 1-0 win over Denmark, thanks to Martin Zubimendi’s 79th-minute goal. The European champions played without key players like Rodri and Dani Carvajal due to injuries, yet managed to edge past Denmark with a solid defensive effort. Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who had earlier denied attempts from Lamine Yamal and Alvaro Morata, couldn’t keep out Zubimendi’s low drive.
Elsewhere, Serbia clinched their first victory by defeating Switzerland 2-0, with Nico Elvedi’s own goal and Aleksandar Mitrovic’s strike. Romania also cruised to a 3-0 win over Cyprus, while Kosovo beat Lithuania 2-1.
