Tunisia seeks strategic partnership with Yobe State to boost agriculture, commerce

The Tunisian government has set its sights on forming a strategic partnership with Yobe State in Nigeria, focusing on sectors such as commerce, agriculture, and education. This was announced by Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Mohsen Antit, during a courtesy visit to Governor Mai Mala Buni on Friday.

Ambassador Antit emphasized the untapped potential in Yobe State that could benefit both the Tunisian business community and local enterprises. He stated, “We are willing to explore these potentials to the benefit of our people and governments,” and proposed organising exchange visits between the two regions’ business sectors to facilitate mutual understanding and collaboration.

In response, Governor Buni expressed his administration’s commitment to fostering this partnership. He highlighted Yobe State’s rich agricultural landscape and its energetic youth as key assets for development. “We have huge arable lands and energetic youth readily available for agricultural engagements, education, and other areas. Similarly, our vibrant business community is ready for the partnership,” Buni affirmed.

The governor also mentioned that the newly completed cargo airport would serve as a significant advantage in supporting the proposed partnership, enhancing trade and exchange between Tunisia and Yobe.

Buni urged both sides to adopt a pragmatic and proactive approach to ensure timely advancements in their collaboration. “Let us be pragmatic, proactive, and time-conscious in promoting this partnership to the benefit of our people,” he concluded.
