US offers Israel ‘Compensation’ for target restraint in potential Iran strike

The United States has reportedly offered Israel a “compensation package” if it agrees to avoid striking specific targets in Iran, according to Israel’s Kan11. This offer follows a recent escalation in the region, with over 200 missiles launched at Israel in retaliatory attacks, resulting in casualties and widespread damage.

As per the report, US officials outlined the proposal during ongoing talks with Israeli counterparts, aiming to influence Israel’s planned response. The proposed package includes diplomatic support and an arms deal, contingent upon Israel avoiding certain classified targets in Iran.

An American official explained the offer, stating, “If you don’t hit targets A, B, and C, we will provide you with diplomatic protection and an arms package.” While Israeli officials acknowledged the proposal, they reaffirmed their commitment to national security, noting they value the US input but will prioritise protecting their citizens.

Top US military officials, including CENTCOM Chief General Michael Kurilla, are currently in Israel for discussions on potential actions. President Joe Biden has also urged a measured response, emphasizing that while Israel has the right to defend itself, a restrained approach could prevent further escalation.
