Pioneering Indian designer Rohit Bal dies at 63

Celebrated Indian fashion designer Rohit Bal, affectionately known as Gudda, has passed away at 63 after a prolonged illness, as confirmed by colleagues on Friday. The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) mourned his loss, praising him for his unique blend of traditional Indian patterns with modern design.

Bal, a graduate in history from St. Stephen’s College in New Delhi, launched his designer label in 1990, making a mark with designs inspired by India’s cultural heritage and urban landscapes. Known for intricate details, such as his iconic lotus motifs, his work has inspired generations and redefined Indian fashion.
