Rumours were spreading that the construction of the modern market in Potiskum had come to a halt.
But as the saying goes, “Rumours are like wildfires best doused with the truth.” And the truth is plain to see:
the work on the market is progressing with purpose, laying the groundwork for a more prosperous Yobe.

I applaud Governor Buni’s unyielding resolve to build the future of our state (step by step).
The modern market in Potiskum is one of his many projects aimed at fostering a vibrant economy.
Soon to be completed, this market will become a hub of trade and opportunity, attracting business and creating livelihoods.
Potiskum is not alone; the markets in Gashua and Damaturu have already opened their doors, bringing new life to commerce in these regions and providing a steady foundation for small businesses to thrive.
But Governor Buni’s efforts go far beyond these three markets.
Construction is also underway on new markets in Yunusari and Galda, marking the seventh modern market he has championed across Yobe State.
As the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” and Governor Buni’s work demonstrates a patient, long-term investment in our communities.
Each of these markets represents not only a place to buy and sell but a beacon of hope and progress for countless families and entrepreneurs.
In parallel, Governor Buni has turned his sights on agriculture, recognizing its essential role in strengthening our state’s economy.
With four sesame production plants established across four local governments, Yobe’s agricultural potential is being realized, opening doors for farmers and creating new revenue streams.
These production companies will help to make Yobe a vital part of the sesame industry, positioning the state as a leader in both quality and output.
“Actions speak louder than words,” and Governor Buni’s actions resonate with a clear message: a prosperous, self-sufficient Yobe is within reach.
Through his vision, we are witnessing the dawn of a stronger, more connected state where commerce, agriculture, and community flourish hand in hand.
