Bandits kidnap 100 people, including Chief Imam

Bandits have abducted around 100 people, including a Chief Imam, during a recent raid on several communities near Gusau, Zamfara State. This marks the second time the Imam has been targeted by kidnappers.

The attackers struck villages such as Gira, Ruwa Kusa, Dogon Hayi, and Gidan Kado, looting motorcycles, farm produce, phones, and provisions from local shops. Riding motorbikes, the bandits pursued women to their homes and seized others they encountered trying to flee.

A survivor, speaking to the BBC Hausa Service, described a terrifying scene in which villagers were chased like animals as the attackers moved through the area. In total, more than 50 people were abducted near Sabon Layi, with a similar number taken from Dagon Hayi.

The ongoing violence has left many in constant fear, with dozens still missing. Despite local authorities being notified, there has been no immediate response from the state government or police regarding the incident.
