Plane with 99 passengers hit by gunfire on US airport runway

Southwest Airlines confirmed that a plane with 99 passengers aboard was apparently struck by gunfire while preparing for takeoff at Dallas Love Field Airport on Friday evening. The incident, which occurred around 8:30 pm local time, saw a bullet hit the right side of the aircraft, just beneath the flight deck, as the plane taxied for departure to Indianapolis, Indiana.

According to a statement from the airline, the crew safely returned the aircraft to the terminal, and no injuries were reported among passengers or crew members. The plane has since been taken out of service for inspection and further investigation.
