The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Ezekiel Simon, 18, from Ndit village in the Bogoro local government area, and Lumana Zakka, 29, from Zuya village, in connection with the murder of Ezekiel Samaila, 45, who was killed over accusations of witchcraft.
A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, revealed that the victim, Ezekiel Samaila, was reported missing on September 24, 2024, after leaving his home to watch a football match in Nera village. His body was discovered the following day near a roadside close to his residence, with his motorcycle and mobile phone missing.

During questioning, Simon confessed that he and Lumana Zakka had conspired to kill the victim, who was Lumana’s uncle, by repeatedly smashing a pestle on his head.
Lumana Zakka, during his interrogation, claimed that he killed Ezekiel Samaila in revenge, accusing him of causing the deaths of several of his relatives, including his mother, two sisters, and two daughters.
The investigation also revealed that the suspects had sold the deceased’s motorcycle for ₦400,000, and efforts are underway to recover it from the buyer.
The suspects are expected to face charges of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and culpable homicide under sections 97, 85, and 221(a) of the Penal Code once the investigation is concluded.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, reaffirmed the commitment of the Bauchi State Police Command to uphold law and order, ensuring public safety and protecting lives and property. He encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
