20-year-old man stabs neighbour to death over maize

A young man in Adamawa State, Abubakar Abdu, has been apprehended for allegedly killing a woman who accused him of stealing her maize.
The 20-year-old, a resident of Gengle village in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area, has been charged with fatally stabbing 30-year-old Azumi Abubakar.
The Adamawa Police Command announced in a statement on Monday that officers arrested Abdu on Sunday, 10th November 2024.
Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, stated: “The suspect had on 7/11/2024, at about 0300hrs, broken into the house of the victim and stolen some maize.”

The police further reported that as the suspect attempted to flee, the victim, recognising him and calling out his name, confronted him.
“Upon realising that he had been identified, the suspect immediately attacked the victim by stabbing her with a knife, leading to her death.
“The suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed,” the PPRO said.
