Driver rescued after 40-foot container crushes vehicle

A driver narrowly escaped death on Monday morning when a 40-foot container fell onto his Toyota Camry at Mile 2, Lagos, near Apapa Ports.

The accident, which occurred around 8 a.m., trapped the vehicle beneath the heavy load.

Quick rescue efforts by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) saved the driver, who was extracted and rushed to the hospital.

Police officers from the Kirikiri Division secured the scene. By 9:30 a.m., efforts to clear the container and ease traffic were underway.

LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, urged proper container securing to prevent such incidents.
