Gov. Zulum distributes 100 trucks of food donated by Tinubu

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Monday commenced the distribution of 100 trucks of food items donated to the state by President Bola Tinubu.

The food supplies, including maize, sorghum, and millet, were delivered in the Ngala Local Government Area.

Addressing the press during the flag-off, Zulum explained that Ngala Local Government Area was selected due to the recent flooding that cut off the town from Nigeria and disrupted food supplies to the region.

“This town was completely cut off from the rest of the country for about four months due to heavy rainfall and flooding. The movement of food items to Ngala was obstructed. This informed our visit today to provide relief and cushion the hardships faced by the people,” he said.

The governor, however, expressed his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all relevant federal government agencies for supporting the state government in ensuring vulnerable individuals receive assistance.

“All of the food items we distributed today were donated to us by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The President has given us 100 trucks of assorted grains, including maize, millet, and sorghum. In addition, the federal government has provided 100 trucks of rice for the victims of the Maiduguri flood disaster.”

“Let me use this opportunity to commend the federal government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for supporting our people in their time of need,” he added.

While reiterating his administration’s commitment to assisting vulnerable individuals, Zulum said the government would soon discontinue the distribution of food items and shift focus to supporting residents through the establishment of irrigation projects in resettled communities.

“The state government has implemented medium- and long-term sustainable solutions that will ensure people can cultivate their lands all year round. We are establishing numerous irrigation structures, particularly in Ngala Local Government Area,” he noted.
