Guardiola will ‘Solve’ Man City’s malaise ahead of Brighton clash

Pep Guardiola has expressed confidence that he can turn around Manchester City’s recent struggles, as the club faces a potential fourth consecutive loss for the first time in his illustrious managerial career.

The Premier League champions have been plagued by injury woes, notably the long-term absence of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, which has contributed to their poor form.

Despite this, Guardiola remains hopeful that the upcoming international break will bring some relief, with several injured players expected to return to full fitness.

“We know the reason why we struggled,” Guardiola stated during his pre-match press conference on Friday. “It’s football, it happens. Looking forward to the game, and after the international break, a few players will come back better. We will solve the problems.”

City’s recent defeats have come in different competitions: a League Cup exit to Tottenham, a rare Premier League loss to Bournemouth, and a heavy 4-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.

However, Guardiola dismissed suggestions that these setbacks would reveal more about his squad than their previous successes, including winning four consecutive Premier League titles.

Guardiola’s squad for Saturday’s trip to Brighton will still be missing key players like Oscar Bobb, Ruben Dias, Jack Grealish, and John Stones. However, Kevin De Bruyne is expected to make his first Premier League appearance in two months, and other players like Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Manuel Akanji, and Kyle Walker are set to feature.

Despite the challenging period, Guardiola’s resolve remains strong as he looks to restore Manchester City’s momentum.
