Holders Spain to face Netherlands in Nations League quarters
European champions Spain will face the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League, following Friday’s draw.
Spain, the reigning champions, clinched the last edition of the tournament by defeating Croatia on penalties in the final. They were also runners-up in the 2020-21 competition, showcasing their consistency in the prestigious tournament.
The quarter-finals promise thrilling matchups, with Germany set to take on Italy in another headline clash. Meanwhile, France will meet Croatia in a repeat of the 2018 FIFA World Cup final, and Portugal is slated to play Denmark.
The winners of the Spain-Netherlands clash will advance to a semi-final against either France or Croatia. On the other side, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal could potentially face Germany or Italy in the last four.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for two-legged ties from March 20-23, 2025. The semi-finals will take place on June 4-5, with the grand final set for June 8, at a venue yet to be announced.

In other fixtures, Belgium must overcome Ukraine in a play-off to stay in League A, while Scotland faces Greece. Additional play-offs include Turkey vs Hungary and Austria vs Serbia. In League B, the Republic of Ireland is set to battle Bulgaria for survival.
Portugal remains the inaugural champion from 2019, with France securing the title in 2021, adding to the growing prestige of the Nations League.
