Ogun Police Confirm Death of Man Found in Hotel Room in Sagamu
The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of Sunday Abidoye, a man found lifeless in his hotel room at Creestar Hotel in Sagamu on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Reports indicate that Abidoye had recently arrived in Nigeria from abroad.
The incident was reported to the police by the hotel’s chief security officer, Oluwole, and the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the details in a statement from Abeokuta.
Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives was dispatched to the scene, where they found Abidoye’s body already placed inside a vehicle outside the hotel, being prepared for transportation to the morgue by his family.
According to the PPRO, Abidoye’s brother had become concerned when he was unable to reach him by phone. He visited the hotel, knocked on the door multiple times, and eventually requested a spare key from the hotel manager. Upon entering the room, they discovered Abidoye’s lifeless body.
Investigators found several drugs and traditional medicines in the hotel room, and the center of the bed appeared to be soaked with a liquid-like substance.
A close friend of the deceased, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, confirmed that he had accompanied Abidoye the previous day to purchase multiple types of medication, as he had been complaining of illness.
The cause of death remains unclear, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CID) for further investigation.
