Man remanded for allegedly killing 11-year-old houseboy
A 47-year-old man, Anthony Onyeukwu, has been remanded by a Chief Magistrate Court in Enugu State for allegedly killing his 11-year-old houseboy, Goodluck John.
The case was brought before the magistrate, Ngozi Edeh Anih, following disturbing reports about the child’s untimely death.
The Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development in Enugu, Mrs. Ngozi Enih, confirmed that Onyeukwu’s arrest was prompted by a whistleblower who provided crucial information related to the incident.

The whistleblower alleged that Goodluck’s death was connected to the household he served.
While Onyeukwu claims that Goodluck passed away from an illness, it has surfaced that he buried the boy’s body in his hometown in Abia State without notifying the appropriate authorities of the death.
Arraigning the suspect last week, the Police Prosecutor- Inspr Calista Ifeanyi, said; “The charge sheet marked: CME/631C/2024 read, “That you, Onyeukwu Anthony ‘m’ on 15th day of October, 2024 at about 20:30 hours at No. 4, Mike Onyeka Close, Loma Linda Extension, Maryland, Enugu, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did unlawfully k!ll one Goodluck John ‘m’ aged 11 years and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 274 (1) of the Criminal Code, CAP 30, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria, 2004.”
Delivering the judgement, Chief Magistrate Anih ordered that Onyeukwu be held in a correctional facility pending the receipt of reports from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ministry of Justice, Enugu.
