NDDC Chairman, Chiedu Ebie applauds court ruling affirming his appointment

Chiedu Ebie, the Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has praised the Federal High Court in Abuja for its ruling affirming his appointment. He described the decision as sound and well-considered.

In a judgment delivered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, the court dismissed a lawsuit filed by oil-producing communities in Bayelsa and Delta against President Bola Tinubu regarding Ebie’s appointment. Justice Abdulmalik stated that the case had become moot since the plaintiffs did not file the suit within the three-month period required by law following the appointment.

Ebie expressed his satisfaction with the ruling, highlighting that it clarifies the NDDC Act’s provisions on appointments. “The judiciary has once again proved that justice is never lacking in the Temple of Justice,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of the ruling in eliminating misrepresentations surrounding his appointment.

He dedicated this legal victory to God and to all well-meaning Niger Deltans, urging stakeholders to collaborate with the NDDC to enhance the region’s infrastructural and socio-economic development. Ebie emphasized the need for unity among all stakeholders to foster peace and progress in the region, steering away from divisive litigation that could hinder the Commission’s work.

“The judgment is remarkable and will further spur my dedication to leadership and enable me to make invaluable contributions to the development of the region,” Ebie said, expressing confidence in the NDDC’s capacity to deliver excellent services and achieve significant developmental milestones in the Niger Delta.
