NNPCL strengthens leadership team with key appointments
In a strategic move aimed at strengthening its operational efficiency, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd has announced key leadership appointments.
Mr. Adedapo Segun has been promoted to the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), previously serving as the company’s Executive Vice President for Downstream operations.
He is to take over the position of CFO from Mr Umar Ajiya.

Additionally, NNPC Ltd has appointed Mr. Isiyaku Abdullahi as the new Executive Vice President (EVP) for Downstream, alongside Mr. Udobong Ntia, who takes on the role of Executive Vice President (EVP) for Upstream.
These appointments highlight NNPC’s commitment to cultivating a robust and unified leadership team dedicated to driving operational excellence and strategic growth.
The board and management extended their gratitude to Mr. Umar Ajiya and Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan for their valuable contributions to the company.
Mr. Segun joined NNPC Limited as the treasurer in April 2016, where he implemented various optimization initiatives, leading to the Group Treasury receiving ISO 9001:2015 certification—a first for the Finance & Accounts division.
Following the transition to NNPC Limited in October 2022, he became the inaugural Chief Finance and Investor Relations Officer, tasked with raising medium- and long-term financing for the entity and its subsidiaries while managing investor relations, especially in preparation for the upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO).
His leadership has facilitated the negotiation and completion of financing initiatives to raise billions of US dollars, laying a strong foundation for NNPC Limited’s future as a Public Limited Liability Company. Mr. Segun is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
