Okorocha alive, aide dismisses death rumour

Ebere Nzeworji, an aide to former Imo State Governor Senator Rochas Okorocha, has dismissed rumors about his principal’s death, affirming that Okorocha is “hale and hearty.”

In a statement issued on Thursday morning in Abuja, Nzeworji addressed the viral message circulating on social media since the evening of Wednesday, November 6, which falsely claimed that Okorocha had died in a London hospital.

Nzeworji confirmed that Okorocha was seen at his Unity House office in Garki, Abuja, around the time the rumors began spreading, adding that the former governor had recently returned from Owerri, Imo State.

Nzeworji further pointed out that Senator Okorocha had attended the funeral of the late elder statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, on Friday, November 1. Following that, he hosted the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, along with other lawmakers, at his Spibat residence in Owerri.

In response to the false rumors, Nzeworji said, “One can only question the motives of those behind this fake news.”

He emphasized that Senator Okorocha is a patriotic Nigerian who has served with distinction both at the state and national levels, building lasting friendships with well-meaning individuals across the country and around the world.

“The former governor has never wished harm on anyone, and he remains a cheerful and caring individual, always concerned about the wellbeing of others,” Nzeworji added.

He concluded by urging all Nigerians and the global community to dismiss the false claims, reassuring them that “His Excellency, Senator Rochas Okorocha, is alive, well, and in good health.”
