Police detain 19-year-old for alleged murder of newborn
The Adamawa State Police Command has detained a 19-year-old man for allegedly killing his newborn baby in Mubi North Local Government Area. The arrest came following a report by the newborn’s mother, who is the suspect’s girlfriend. In a statement issued in Yola on Saturday, the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that the suspect was taken into custody on November 8.
According to Nguroje, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect impregnated the complainant and was called to see the child after its birth. During a nighttime visit, he allegedly took advantage of the mother’s absence after sending her on an errand. Upon returning, she discovered that her child was missing. Further investigations revealed that the suspect had killed the baby and buried the body at a location in Girpata, Mubi.
