Terrorists attack military base, kill 20 soldiers
At least 20 soldiers are feared dead following a terrorist attack on a military base in Karito, Borno State, over the weekend.
The assailants launched the attack using a range of weapons, and although the exact number of casualties has yet to be confirmed, sources indicate that around 20 soldiers were killed, with several others injured.
The insurgents also seized vehicles and heavy machine guns before retreating from the area.
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has expressed his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, condemning the attack as a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by insurgents.
Governor Zulum reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the region, emphasizing that efforts to resettle and develop the area will continue despite the setback.
