Federal High Court upholds Ali Odefa’s suspension from PDP

A Federal High Court in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has validated the suspension of Ali Odefa from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP Executive Committee at Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, suspended Odefa on October 4, 2024, citing allegations of anti-party activities.

Delivering judgment in Hon. Ovuta Herbert Onyedikachi & Ors v. Chief Ali Odefa & Ors (Suit No. FHC/AI/CS/182/2024), Justice Hilary Oshomah affirmed the suspension, directing Odefa to cease identifying as the PDP’s National Vice Chairman. The court ruled that the suspension took effect on November 29, 2024.

Justice Oshomah described the suspension as valid and binding, reinforcing the PDP’s decision to discipline members engaging in alleged misconduct.

This judgment comes amid rising internal disputes within the PDP. Odefa’s suspension highlights the party’s commitment to enforcing discipline within its ranks.
