Fire engulfs Trademore Estate market in Abuja
An early morning fire on Monday destroyed the market at Trademore Estate, one of Abuja’s popular residential areas located off the Umar Musa Yar’Adua/Airport Road.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but a local resident, Joe, who noticed the blaze around 4 a.m., speculated that it might have been caused by an electrical issue.
“We haven’t confirmed the cause yet, but we suspect it could be electrical. We immediately tried reaching out to both the Federal Fire Service and the FCT Fire Service,” Joe said. “The situation was tense.”
Residents were eventually able to alert the fire service at Dunamis Church, who arrived on the scene around 5 a.m. Joe later confirmed that the fire had been extinguished.
“Two hours after the fire broke out, officials from the Federal Fire Service, including teams from the EFCC and Sauka Station, were able to bring the blaze under control,” Joe said.
The full extent of the damage caused by the fire is still unclear.
