PDP crisis: Wabara- led BoT slams Damagum NWC, to visit Wike, others
The PDP Young Generation Caucus (PDP-YGC) has commended the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its recent call urging the party to adhere to its constitution in selecting a substantive National Chairman from the North-Central zone.
In a press statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, Hon. Afolabi Adekanbi, President of the PDP-YGC, lauded the BoT, led by Senator Adolphus Wabara CON, for its timely and decisive stance.
The statement emphasised the need for unity and stability within the party, describing the BoT as the conscience of the PDP. “The PDP BoT has done the right thing by speaking up at the right moment,” it said.
Highlighting the current discord in the party, the statement added:
“We are aware of the mudslinging that has plagued our great party due to the disregard for and violation of the party’s constitution.”

The group praised the BoT’s recommendation for the National Executive Committee (NEC) to convene in February 2025 and for the North-Central zone to nominate a replacement for Prof. Iyorchia Ayu, the former National Chairman.
It further urged the National Working Committee (NWC), led by Ambassador Iliya Damagum, to show responsible leadership by implementing the BoT’s communique.
The PDP-YGC also condemned attacks on the BoT Chairman, Senator Wabara, describing them as unwarranted.
“We frown at the unwarranted attacks on Senator Adolphus Wabara by unscrupulous elements who do not wish for the progress of the party. These attacks must stop immediately,” the statement read.
The PDP has faced growing anxiety over the NWC’s delay in convening a NEC meeting to replace the acting National Chairman, following Senator Ayu’s resignation. The PDP-YGC expressed confidence that adherence to the BoT’s recommendations would restore unity, peace, and progress to the party.
The group called on all PDP members to prioritise the collective interest of the party over personal agendas.
