Police in Anambra arrest gun gunner for providing weapons to IPOB terrorists, other criminals

The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a man accused of providing firearms to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) terrorists and other criminal elements in the state.

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Friday Emenike, also known as Ekpo, is alleged to specialise in lending guns and ammunition to criminal elements operating in Awka and surrounding areas.

Confirming the arrest, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson, revealed that the Anti-Cultism Unit raided a criminal hideout in Umunaga Village, Awka South Local Government Area, arresting two suspected accomplices: Okechukwu Chinwuko (27) of Umunaga Village and Ezenwa Chinedu (22) of Umuneri Village, were found in possession of a pump-action gun, three live cartridges, a cutlass, criminal charms, and substances suspected to be hard drugs.

“Upon further interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, leading police to Ekpo, who they admitted to renting guns from,” said Ikenga.

He also confirmed that the case would be charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.
