Police in Delta arrest man for alleged murder of neighbor’s son

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man in connection with the murder of his neighbor’s eight-year-old son.

The suspect, Destiny Lawrence, allegedly lured the child to an uncompleted building, where he delivered him to a native doctor who then took the boy’s life.

During a press conference, Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda detailed the horrific events, stating the suspect was motivated by a promise of thirty thousand naira.

The victim’s father reported his son, Progress Ifeanyi, missing on December 23, expressing concern that Destiny, a regular customer at their shop, had last been seen with the boy.

After the father confronted Destiny about his son’s whereabouts, the suspect initially claimed ignorance.

However, later that day, the lifeless body of Progress was discovered in an abandoned structure, with disturbing evidence indicating that some body parts were missing.

Upon being taken into custody, Destiny confessed that a local native doctor, identified as Jonah from the Otolokpo community, had commissioned him to find a young boy in exchange for the financial reward.

The police have indicated that Destiny remains in custody as efforts continue to locate the elusive native doctor. The investigation into this deeply troubling case is ongoing, as the community grapples with the devastating loss of a young life.
