Police nab suspected kidnapper, recover AK-47 rifle, begin hunt for fleeing gang members
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a security operation aimed at curbing criminal activities.
Police authorities said the suspect was apprehended following intelligence-led operations targeting kidnapping networks operating in parts of the country. During the arrest, officers reportedly recovered the assault rifle along with other items believed to be linked to the gang’s operations.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a member of a kidnapping syndicate responsible for several abductions in the area.
The Nigeria Police Force said efforts are currently underway to track down other members of the gang who fled during the operation.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects and urged members of the public to provide useful information that could help security agencies dismantle the criminal network.
The police also reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.
